RI District 2

Juniors Season Ends at East Regional
Rumford dropped a tough 4-3 loss to Quincy Youth Little League (MA), at Michael J. Tighe Park in Freehold, NJ. The team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Then Quincy made it 3-2, on a two out, bases loaded double in the fifth inning. Rumford battled back in the sixth to knot the game at 3-3. Quincy came to bat in the bottom of the seventh and pushed one run across, to advance in the losers bracket and ending the RLL Juniors season. Congratulations to the players and coaches on a great summer of baseball! Finally, thank you to all those who helped support the Juniors on their trip to the 2015 Junior League Eastern Regional tournament. 


Junior League State Champs!
The RLL Juniors defeated Chariho 13-9, earning the State Championship and a ticket to the 2015 Junior League Eastern Regional Tournament in Freehold, NJ. The team jumped out to an early 8-1 lead, then Chariho rallied for 8 runs in the third inning making it 9-8. With a boisterous crowd behind them, the Rumford boys rallied for 5 unanswered runs in the top of the seventh inning. The team will open play Friday August 7, at 1:00pm versus Delaware State Champion, Dover Little League. Congratulations to the players and coaches! Go Rumford!



10-11 Majors District 2 Champions
The Rumford 10-11 Major team beat Bristol 6-1 on Sunday, July 19 on Linberg Field at the Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Complex in Rumford. The team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, with strong pitching and defensive play. They now advanced to the RI State Tournament to be held at Randy Hien Field in Lincoln, RI. Rumford’s first game will be Wednesday, July 29 at 8:00PM versus the District 4 champion. Good luck in the State Tournament… Go Rumford!




Juniors Take District 2 Title
The Rumford Juniors team defeated Tiverton 7-3 on Saturday, July 18 at Glenlyon Field in Rumford to take the RI District 2 Title. The team now advances to the State Tournament to be held at Bentley Field in Cumberland, RI. Good luck boys in the State Tournament!
